Why shouldn’t I just take medication?
As a Master’s level mental health clinician, I am not able to prescribe medication.
Medication alone cannot solve all issues. What medication does is treat the symptoms. Our work together is designed to explore the root of the issue, dig deep into your behavior and teach strategies that can help you accomplish your personal and/or relational goals.
That said, medication can be effective and is sometimes needed in conjunction with therapy. If you are in need of speaking to someone about medication, I can give you referrals if needed.
How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?
My training in traditional mental health therapy, hypnotherapy, life coaching, meditation, and childhood regression work allows me to tailor sessions to your agenda and your needs. To do this, I start with a very thorough intake with each client, as it is very important I have a clear idea of what your agenda is. You are expert on you. Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, it will be different depending on the individual. What you “do” in sessions will depend on you. Some clients enjoy more traditional, structured sessions with homework in between each session. Others like to take a more organic, intuitive approach, watching each session unfold as it will. With either approach, the best thing you can do to prepare is simply be open to the process, and to the idea that therapy and all forms of self-work take commitment, dedication, and motivation to stick with it. While this work can be painful at times, the rewards are many, including growth, transformation, and a greater sense of inner peace an understanding of your journey.
